Yashoda's Rooftop Cupcake Photo Session | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

Yashoda's social media profile portrait session on the William Oliver rooftop in Downtown Atlanta.

Two days after returning from California it was time for an action-packed weekend of two shoots! Luckily no wedding that weekend as I would be seriously exhausted after traveling and shooting time-lapse in California and Yosemite (another future blog post), but Friday we shot Betty’s PhD classmate Yashoda and the following was day Sophear & Jake’s pre-wedding formal photo session. Living in Downtown Atlanta definitely has it’s advantages – walking distance to Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and Cafe Intermezzo… and access to our own building’s rooftop with killer views of the cityscape and our friend Yashoda’s rooftop a few blocks away at the William Oliver building. Ok, her building may be taller but it looks Eastward – great for sunrises and a view of the Georgia Capitol but blocked for sunsets.

If you couldn’t tell from the colors – Yashoda is a die-hard Michigan fan. Since Betty went to Michigan State this technically makes them rivals… but only in the state of Michigan I guess =). Since I went to UCF (University of Central Florida), a school without a large football program, I’m sort of lost on this whole college sports thing and just go with the flow supporting the Spartans with Betty =).

The reason for this photo portrait session, besides showing off Yashoda’s killer good looks, is to get a few profile photos for her upcoming food blog. I hope to be able to link to the site soon when it gets up and running. Though if Yashoda’s PhD workload is anything like Betty’s she probably does not have a whole lot of free time either. I love the hat to complete the Yellow and Blue UM look but Yashoda looks equally amazing with that killer smile and the breeze from the rooftop gently blowing her hair.

Wait, was this a super model shoot or a student blog shoot? I’m confused. Also, I love the square crop on these photos to give them a high fashion look even if they weren’t shot on a Hasselblad (that only shoot square format) but instead on the Canon 5D Mark II. Ok, back to the point of this shoot which is a food blog. Yashoda baked a cupcake for a prop so we incorporated that into a few shots of course.

One last shot as the sun finally set on us in Downtown Atlanta… Thanks Yashoda for having Betty and I up to the top of your building for the awesome portrait session and we can’t wait to feature your blog! I’ll try to get another post out this week as I’m getting close to being caught up in editing, finishing one wedding video last Friday and amazingly Franki and Josh’s wedding video on Sunday – a record two day edit even with us shooting a wedding on Saturday!! This weekend we head out of town to photograph Rachel and Shayne’s destination wedding at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana – there’s just something about college sports and our amazing friends!! =)
