Trina & Shawn: In Love | Piedmont Park Engagement Session | Midtown Atlanta Wedding Photographer
This post was a long time coming, I gave a some preview posts back here and here on the blog, but with the backlog of a million shoots I am only just now getting together an official blog post with Trina & Shawn’s wedding less than 2 weeks away! Soon enough you will be seeing their wedding pictures grace these blog pages, but until then enjoy some photos from their rockin’ engagement session in Piedmont Park! I tried to incorporate some of the latest techniques that I have been practicing on Betty and our friends in this session and I loved the results: dramatic portraits that really showcase this fabulous couple like the shot above that opens this post.
We started the shoot on the South side of Piedmont Park near the Charles Allen Drive entrance and Park Tavern. That is the only challenge to Piedmont, the parking. If you can bike/walk there or even take MARTA you’re fine, but street parking is pretty tough during peak times or on weekends. This was an after-work engagement session so we were still running into people hitting the park for their nightly run/jog after work. The setting sun was perfect for some off-camera “Strobist” style photography which is quickly becoming my newest obsession, I simply love the dramatic look to my brides and grooms (or brides-to-be and grooms-to-be!).
After taking some photos on the awesome hills on the South side and getting warmed up, we moved over to the always popular Lake Clara Meer and grabbed some quick shots of the Midtown skyline as the sun was setting. You two look amazing!
We moved over to the pavilion and I made Trina give me her best model pose. This is a common joke with Trina at work that she is “Atlanta’s Next Top Model” because she is 6 feet tall and probably weighs all of 100 pounds, a supermodel in disguise!
There’s always time to show your inner kid and have a little fun on the swings!
On to the Active Oval at Piedmont Park where some of the coolest views of Midtown are! But first, a quick stop at another of my favorite locations inside Piedmont Park. I just love this stone wall on the West side of the Active Oval, the bits of greenery peeking through and the bricks are so cool!
We rounded out the evening as the temperature dipped a bit to the backdrop of another gorgeous Atlanta sunset! The clouds and sun totally cooperated with us and gave us some amazing color that worked beautifully with such a beautiful couple!
Congratulations Trina and Shawn! We are so happy you chose us to be your photographers on your wedding day coming up in less than 2 weeks! Can you believe it?!?! Wishing you all the best! I’ll see you Saturday!
