Nishi's Indian Wedding Reception | Zyka Indian Restaurant & Banquet Facilities | Decatur Indian Wedding Photographer
Wow, I know I’ve said this before but I’m still sooo far behind on blogging about weddings!! This has been such a crazy Spring here in Atlanta, and to think we moved to Atlanta almost exactly a year ago! I didn’t get to experience the Spring wedding season, jumping into the thick of things in the Fall of 2010 after we moved and got settled. It seems like only yesterday Betty and I were getting lost in Atlanta on our first Fourth of July and now here we are, our second Fourth of July in Atlanta with Baby Miles in tow! Back to wedding time after this brief interruption!
I’ve written a couple teaser blog posts here and there and showed a quick picture on Friday’s preview post about Nishi’s wedding reception at Zyka in Decatur. The fact that Betty and I were at Zyka just today (Sunday) meeting Sam & Sana to discuss details for their Indian wedding in a few short months make this post all the more timely and relevant! Did I mention that I was actually the VIDEOGRAPHER at this wedding? I was shooting video using 2 camcorders which was edited by Chris, so I only have the footage from one camcorder to make my version of the wedding video that is posted at the very end of this blog post. To say this was a crazy evening was an understatement shooting two camcorders and all of the photographs you see in this post were personally shot by yours truly (Zac)! Oh, did I mention that I shot a wedding in the morning before this reception? I was a bit tired the next day 🙂
I photographed Nishi’s engagement banquet in March so this was the follow-up wedding banquet on May 22nd, 2011. Having met many of her family and close friends I had an amazing time at the reception as I saw old friends and was warmly welcomed by everyone there.

I just ate at Zyka this afternoon for lunch while taste-testing with Sam and Sana (so I may be a little biased), but I think the food at Zyka is just amazing! The Butter Chicken never disappoints, the spices on the Tandoori Chicken is to die for, and my personal favorite is the crowd-pleasing Chicken 65!
Playing around with the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt+Shift lens in the above photo. More candid moments during the evening:
We did have a few traditional ceremonies in between visiting with family and friends (and eating the tasty food!).
More traditional photos with friends and of course of the lovely bride and groom!
Bestowing of gifts on the bride (traditionally jewelry)
A few more candids from around the room before the night was over. Here are the Trans, another of my favorite families that I got to meet again!
More candid shots:
Finally we said good-night and Nishi was given away in a very touching and heartfelt processional. I think I teared up a bit too.
Congratulations and thank you Kaifi for having us back again! As I mentioned on Friday’s preview post I was sooo excited to see all of my newfound friends again. Lastly, here is a quick edit of the video that I took during the event.

[…] the day’s events were held at Zyka Decatur’s Banquet Hall which is a large venue that I have shot at before. The tall vaulted ceilings are nice they just make photos a bit tricky to get the light even. […]
