Here is the long awaited blog about Nayla & Kyle’s beautiful wedding at Little Gardens in Lawrenceville, Georgia! Betty and I were fortunate enough to be called upon to preserve Nayla and Kyle’s memories of their big day at Little Gardens, a wedding venue about 30 minutes Northeast of Atlanta in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Betty and I were both shooting this day, which gave us some greater flexibility for her to be in one area while I was in another. The second advantage to having a second shooter who really understands your own style is variety – while I might have a zoom lens on (the handy 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II) Betty will be shooting wide angle which gives a different perspective of the same scene. A very helpful tip for photographers or for brides-to-be when looking at whether your photographer offers one shooter or two.
Ceremonies are always so quick, they go by in a flash! As a groom myself I could not really tell you much of what happened during the ceremony. The mix of adrenaline and nervousness as you stand there in front of your closest family and friends is a bit nerve-wracking I must admit!
After the ceremony we had a our time for formals portraits. While we took all of the required family photos of the bride and her parents, groom and his… Kyle’s groomsmen were definitely up for a bit of fun to let loose! (usually it’s the bride that is lifted by the guys)
The day followed the typical timeline for a wedding: bride gets ready, groom gets ready, ceremony, then reception. We were able to carve out a little bit of time during the reception to sneak the newlyweds away for some portraits of just the two of them, which was a nice breather for them and some time for a couple of great images.
This might be one of my favorite images of the day even though it’s a simple cake cutting photo to most people. The colors of the cake, Nayla’s beautiful dress, and the expressions of two lovebirds make it the perfect image in my book.
Ok I lied, THIS might be my favorite image of the day. Little Gardens is an amazing wedding venue with it’s rustic house for a reception and the vibrant green landscaping outside. The kiss, the bride, the groom, the background, the foreground… perfect! Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II and the 85mm f/1.2L lens wide open at f/1.2 for this photo.
I’ll end this image intensive post with some more fun photos of the bridesmaids and the bride and groom. Like the earlier photo of the boys holding up Kyle, the girls also knew how to have a great time. Thank you Nayla, Kyle, and all of your family and friends for inviting us to be a part of your special day. Wishing you much happiness in the future!
