St. Petersburg Wedding Photographer - Sacred Heart Church & Hilton St. Petersburg, Adelle & Joe
A little late with this post, but as the saying goes… better late than never! It has been a whirlwind in the weeks since Betty and I shot this wedding – but no fear, they are all good things! We have been so incredibly busy with editing photos, shooting more weddings, and life in general! The routine has been to put in a 10-12 hour day at work, and then hit the photos hard editing for a solid 2-3 hours each night and every other free moment I get. Surprisingly I’m actually 90% caught up with everyone having received their photos on time (not counting a delayed package from USPS but that’s beside the point).
Today’s post is from Adelle & Joe’s wedding at Sacred Heart Church in St. Petersburg, FL with the reception taking place at the Hilton Downtown also in St. Petersburg, FL. This was my sister’s wedding, so besides the normal pressure of a wedding shoot we also had the entire family looking at us *gulp*.
This wedding was our first church wedding, so it was a great learning experience to shoot in a more restricted indoor setting than our typical outdoor wedding setting. When we are outdoors you are fighting with the sun and the shadows, indoors you are fighting with the lack of light, a whole new ballgame. Flashes were off limits so we cranked up the ISO on the cameras a bit and went to town. The photos have a slightly different look using the ambient light of the church that actually came out really neat at times, like the one directly above this text block with the pastor.
And so the ceremony ends, and the bride walks down the aisle… We stuck around and did the formals inside the church, see below for a quick formal with some light processing for an aged look to the photo.
As the sun set on the new couple, they headed off via limo to the Hilton Downtown in St. Petersburg!
Great reception put on by the hotel, the only concern was that they had the room right next to someone’s Sweet 16… So while the wedding party was slow dancing you could hear the bass thump of “Boom Boom Pow” coming through the wall. A stressful situation for the family, but one of those things we can all look back and laugh at later.
As the night went on we never really had a chance to take formals with just the bride and groom, so late in the evening before we left we snuck them away and took advantage of the lights in the hallways for our backdrop. Thank you Adelle & Joe for having us as your photographers! Best of luck in your future!
