Karina & Ryan's Engagement Session | Lake Eola Park | Orlando Destination Wedding Photographer
Orlandoooooo! Even though I love our new home in Atlanta, I get nostalgic about Orlando. Lucky us, we get to shoot Karina & Ryan’s wedding in November down in Orlando at our favorite restaurant, Ceviche! This was our first dinner date restaurant and one of our favorites in general to go to in Orlando, so this wedding is going to be extra amazing. For their engagement shoot we stuck to the general downtown Orlando area hitting Lake Eola Park before heading to Church Street Station. While Betty stayed over in St. Petersburg with Miles and my Mom, I ran around downtown Orlando with these two and asked our good friend (and not a photographer so a gigantic THANK YOU for your help that evening), Jodi to help hold lights for me =).
As we made our rounds at Lake Eola, this is where having the lovely Jodi as my assistant was invaluable, because this March evening was a windy one with 20+ mph gusts as a front moved through the area.
I don’t know what Ryan was whispering to her… and I’m not sure I want to know =)
Canon 5D Mark II has lowlight focus issues? Really? This session was taken before the Mark III came out, and actually I think I placed my preorder by phone the morning of this shoot on March 3rd!
After rounding our way to the other side of Lake Eola, we headed a few blocks to Church Street where the train used to reside… now headed to parts unknown (to me at least, I’m sure an Orlando resident can tell me where it was moved to). I like this quick grab as I turned around crossing Orange Avenue:
Even without the train there, we played a little bit around the tracks area near Ceviche and the clubs.
Then of course we had to go on the tracks themselves. Oh it’s so photographically cliche, right? Well Karina and Ryan rocked it and I’d shoot there a million times with these two if I had to =)
…and I made Jodi do a quick behind the scenes photo for the blog. You can thank her later =)
To flare or not to flare, that is the question.
Finally, outside of Ceviche we just played around a bit in the streets and I went for a more timeless black and white look to the edits with the city lights in the background.
These final two frames in color for good measure:
Thank you Karina and Ryan for being awesome! Thank you Jodi for giving up part of your Saturday evening to spend it with me shooting these two beautiful people, you’re the best! Only about seven months to go until we are back down in Orlando again for Karina and Ryan’s wedding, I can’t wait!!
