Thunderstorm at Tybee Island Pier

That’s about how I feel right now, it’s almost one o’clock and my brain is a thunderstorm! I feel like today has been such an unproductive day (with editing at least). I woke up, played with Miles for a few hours, ate lunch, answered a few phone calls, played with Miles some more, browsed some back issues of Rangefinder magazine to get posing ideas, and then headed over to Piedmont Park for Trina & Shawn’s engagement session. Before I knew it it’s 10:00 PM and we’re just eating dinner and I’ve maybe spent 30 minutes or an hour max in front of Lightroom and Premiere to get work done! I had a rough draft of a blog post started but at 12:15 AM I’m scratching that long form post and just letting the ideas flow to get caught up and post some recent work.

KyAnne & Brett's Beach Wedding | Tybee Island | Atlanta Wedding Photographer

Actually the photo at the start of this post was taken this past Saturday at Tybee Island after our amazing wedding with KyAnne and Brett! Matthew and I drove over to Tybee early Saturday morning and spent the entire day in great company capturing their wedding. Here is one more sneak preview from the wedding before the official blog post – and to think I was actually the videographer not the photographer but that’s another story all in itself! I guess I can consider myself an Atlanta Destination Wedding Photographer now?

Behind the scenes proof that I was working my butt off on Saturday. Canon XF100 on the Manfrotto video fluid tripod, Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Rode VideoMic and 24-70mm on the monopod capturing DSLR HD Video, and a Canon EOS 7D with a 70-200mm lens to grab a couple still photos during the ceremony.

Anna & Armando's Marietta Wedding | Reception Hall International | Atlanta Wedding Photographer

I realized that even though Monday’s blog post was about Latobia’s wedding at Primrose Cottage, I don’t think I ever posted Anna & Armando’s wedding which was the day before up in Marietta at Reception Hall International! Argh, still behind on blog posts! I really like this black and white photo above which has Armando and his father and grandfather in the front row.

So what else have we been up to besides the weekly weddings, like I posted last Wednesday with Jess and John on our rooftop, I’m still working on my off-camera flash technique for dramatic angles and flash work. Betty and Miles came with me to Centennial Olympic Park to practice some techniques on overpowering the sun and getting dramatic shots even in the middle of the day before the sun sets.

Miles is not amused with all of these flashes going off in his face.

On Sunday while I was recovering from the weekend drive to Tybee and back I made Betty be my model some more and tried out this new portable mini-softbox we got off Amazon. The set up is this shot taken in a secret corner of Centennial Olympic Park (by the playground, not that secret):

Using that setup and then darkening the sky a bit in Lightroom yields this result:

Today (Wednesday) I used a fairly similar setup in Piedmont Park for Trina and Shawn’s engagement session, though a bit later in the evening as the sun was setting so I was only at 1/16 power on the flash:

We had a fun time this evening and Miles even came along for a bit to see Trina and Shawn again :).

Keeping the blog short and sweet this week with just a few teaser photos from upcoming “Photo Monday” blog posts. For the fellow photographers that read this blog yes I am still intending to write up a good review of the Canon XF100 HD Camcorder now that I seriously put it through it’s paces this past weekend at KyAnne & Brett’s wedding on Tybee Island.

That’s me rocking the Canon XF100 in one hand with a LED video light in the other hand at the reception. For now though I need to keep chugging along at the video editing process for their wedding video so I can have a nice full blog post about that one! I’ve taken plenty of wedding videos but I’ve never edited over 2 and a half hours of footage before. Ouch! I’m almost done organizing everything from the getting ready part to the ceremony, I just need to arrange some of the reception videos and then start trimming clips and getting a rough cut together before we start the actual editing process of Color Correction and additional editing.

I just confirmed everything with Amir and Nas on Monday, and got an inquiry on Tuesday about another Indian Wedding for August. Dates are filling up fast, contact us today to ensure we have your 2011 date available or to get on the calendar for 2012! We love you Atlanta Brides!
