Anything Goes Wednesday: Atlanta Streets Alive!
Well, we didn’t go to the most recent Streets Alive event due to wedding shoots this past weekend, but a few weeks ago on June 11th we had a free Saturday so we walked over to Atlanta Streets Alive in Downtown and took Miles for a short trip.
Ok I don’t have a huge amount of photos from the event, but the idea is that streets in Downtown Atlanta are closed to traffic so that local residents can have fun and play in the middle of the road even in Atlanta. Retake the streets and be a kid again walking in the middle of the road and riding your bicycle up and down some of the busier streets in downtown. Well, with Miles we pushed him in the stroller up and down the streets but still enjoyed ourselves for the few hours we were there seeing the different sights from Woodruff Park to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.
Dancers from the Awalim Tribal Dance Company put on a performance in the street near Georgia State University.
We walked further down the road and found some more GSU students playing double-dutch and a host of other schoolyard games in front of the dorms on Edgewood Avenue/Marietta Street.
After checking out a few more stops I headed all the way down to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and cooled down with a tasty Banana Puddin’ popsicle from Atlanta’s own King of Pops. That’s about it for Streets Alive, we walked around a bit but other than that didn’t do much else. Keeping it really short and sweet for this week’s “Anything Goes” blog post mainly because I need to get back to editing photos from these weddings! Friday preview coming up soon, see you then!
