White Christmas in Atlanta! More Fun with Time-Lapse Photography

Time-lapse videos of the snow that fell here on Christmas Day in Atlanta!

Happy Holidays! For our first Christmas in Atlanta Betty and I got quite a surprise: SNOW!

[Time-Lapse] Snowing in Atlanta at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Christmas 2010 from Zac & Betty FengLong Photography on Vimeo.

To commemorate the snow (and the fact that I was working anyway), I put together a time lapse video of the snow in Atlanta. Christmas Day was when the actual snow happened, so it was a nice surprise waking up early on Sunday the day after Christmas and seeing the entire city of Atlanta blanketed in snow on the drive into the hotel. I’m still working on my time-lapse skills and post production, each video gets slightly better but I know I have a long way to go before I can match some of the great storytellers I look up to such as Vincent Laforet or newcomers like Mike Flores who put out amazing work.

Here are some quick Behind the Scenes videos from the Time Lapse taken with my iPhone 4, so it’s not exactly HD video but still pretty darn good!

Lastly, here is a fun edit I did from one of the stills taken to bring out that dramatic sky. I was hoping for a perfect sunset with the snow but things don’t always cooperate and the sky turned a sold grey for the next 2 hours straight until it turned dark.

...And Then The Storm Broke

Sunday night the snow finally stopped and the clouds broke. For my first snow of the year I was very happy to have it happen on Christmas Day! As a Floridian you get used to palm trees and 70 degree weather on Christmas Day, so now I have a small taste of what the weather is supposed to be like in Winter on Christmas 🙂
