What an honor to shoot this amazing couple! Betty and I had so much fun at this wedding. That’s the conundrum of destination work, it’s tough to be with Miles away from home for a few days, but when working with a couple at a destination venue you really become a member of the family for a few days and it makes everything so much more personal. On Friday all three of us got up at the unreasonable hour of 4:00 AM to catch the MARTA train down to the airport for our break-of-dawn flight out of Atlanta to Phoenix Sky Harbor. Landed, rental car, off to Gaurav’s parent’s house in Chandler (suburb of Phoenix). After spending the afternoon at the Mehndi party, everyone drove North for the short (relatively) 2 hour drive to Sedona in the mountains. The next day was Saturday, the wedding day of course, and after an amazing breakfast relaxing on the patio of Poco Diablo Resort, we went into full wedding mode for the rest of the day shooting the outdoor Hindu ceremony and partied all night at the reception. Betty had to turn in early prior to the reception to put Miles to bed but I rocked out the reception with some amazing photos as we danced the night away. Some how I convinced Ashley and Gaurav to fulfill my crazy idea to do a star shot and after the party we drove down the road for some amazingly unique shot of the bride and groom… and the MILKY WAY! It’s so cool up there in Sedona, the air is crisp and clear and we had the perfect night to see the stars. Enjoy these previews before the full blog post in a few weeks (and eventually the travel photos from our trip because we stayed a few extra days in Arizona to see the Grand Canyon, Antelope Slot Canyons, and more!).
Astrophotography + Wedding Photography = Win! Can’t wait to share more from this amazing wedding!
