Wow it’s 10:00 PM and I just realized that I didn’t write my Monday blog post yet! Even on our first weekend without a wedding in the longest time, we had a pretty darn busy weekend. Click this link or scroll down on the blog to read about (and look at pictures) from the 2011 Indian Festival and Pow-Wow at Stone Mountain Park. Besides that event on Saturday afternoon, we had Jess & John’s engagement party up in Suwanee on Saturday night (click here to see their engagement shoot in Oakhurst) as we prepare for their February destination Mexico wedding in Playa del Carmen. Then on Sunday, I had a quick photo assignment taking a picture of a sign again (the glamorous life I tell ya!) and then Sunday evening was my mini-workshop with Anna & Annika at Piedmont Park teaching Off Camera Flash and dramatic portraiture! But wait, there’s more! Monday morning, 6am call time in Cleveland, GA (hour and a half North of downtown so I left here at 4:30 AM) for my sporadic project as set photographer and time-lapse photographer for a new show coming to Georgia Public Broadcasting soon. Needless to say I came home, took a nap, and am slowly getting back into the routine of things around here. Which leads me to finally writing about Natalie and Philip’s wedding!!

The girls got ready at Clayton County International Park in the VIP Room, and yes the name sounds glamorous but it was more like a bridal suite =). The guys got ready at the church and had a bit of free time to pose for some fun photos while Natalie slipped into her dress and put on the finishing touches.

The ceremony was short and sweet, but we had the most fun with the formal photos which is rare and why I love highlighting them here. This family and friends really know how to have a good time!

Now, you’ll know how rare it is for us to post formal photos on the blog. Not that we don’t ever take them it’s just usually not as exciting as say a dramatic portrait of the bride and groom or a heartfelt candid moment. Speaking of which, of course we shot some dramatic portraits of Natalie and Philip as well!

My favorite portraits of the night, and a couple of my favorite portraits of the entire year, happened towards the end of the night. We had Natalie say a few words to her new husband for the wedding video alone in the VIP Room (Bridal Suite) while the reception was going on with dinner time. After we recorded the testimonial we wanted to take a few bridal portraits of Natalie in her gown, and Natalie was giving me some awesome model/fashion poses that looked really great. Then she said she’d be up for any crazy idea I had as well. Of course I’ve usually got some crazy idea floating in my head so I asked her to try a fun jumping photo of her and her gown. The first photo she was looking in the wrong direction, on the second jump we got the photo you see on the left! Philip appeared right after this photo was taken and wanted to join his lovely bride too. 1, 2, 3… JUMP! And we got the awesome photo on the right. Not bad for 10 minutes on the sidewalk =)

Sometimes I even surprise myself how much good photography can change an otherwise drab area and make it into something magical. We immediately shot the next photo after the jumping photos since it was now a couple’s bride/groom portrait time with Philip in the mix. Another great portrait of these two newlyweds!

Needless to say we had A LOT of fun at Natalie and Philip’s wedding! This couple is simply amazing and I think you can easily tell from these photos the awesome wacky sense of humor they have that fits perfectly together. We wish them nothing but happiness and success in the future! Check out Natalie on Facebook, she is currently touring in Singapore (she’s a fab singer and did an acapella at the wedding). Have a great week!
