Bridal Glamour Portrait Session with Alice | Piedmont Park | Atlanta Fine Art Wedding Photographer
Hello from a busy weekend here at FengLong Photography! We had an amazing intimate wedding on Friday, which was 11/11/11 in case you forgot, at Chateau Elan up in Braselton, GA. After that I had a shoot all day Saturday for the television show I’m working on, so needless to say I hit the sack early on Saturday night! Now we are relaxing here on this beautiful Sunday writing a blog post and getting ready to deliver wedding photos to H & E, look forward to their amazing Nigerian wedding up on the blog soon!
Ok enough about what is going on in our lives, and on to this week’s Monday blog post with the beautiful Alice at a bridal portrait session in Piedmont Park back in September. The thing you won’t see in these photos, but that you will see in the video at the end of this post, is that her dress totally did NOT fit at all. Since this wasn’t her actual wedding gown but a dress ordered specially for this photo shoot we didn’t try things on beforehand. Lesson learned there but we wanted to make things work because the weather was shaping up to be amazing, so you’ll see in the Behind the Scenes video the gaffer’s tape and binder clips we used to keep everything in place :). This meant no photos from behind or looking over the shoulder, but we totally made things works and got photos that I am very pleased with!
Joanna from Joanna Bird Photography was our assistant at this shoot, helping to hold the softbox for a few photos and the biggest help of all – shooting the behind the scenes video.
One shot you can totally do without showing the back of the dress is having Alice on the ground looking over her shoulder! Totally hides the back of the dress and looks AMAZING when shot with the beautiful 85mm lens wide wide WIDE open at f/1.2 for that creamy dreamy background.
We also had a full moon that day and tried to incorporate it into our shoot in a fun way, not sure if the photo on the left works or not. Then we turned the other way in Piedmont Park and put the Midtown skyline behind Alice and had some fun in front of the camera. Our photo shoot whether a portrait session or a wedding are definitely about FUN for everyone involved!
The sunset sky was gorgeous that evening if you couldn’t tell, I love it when everything just clicks!
Here is where we really just started “playing” and trying out a concept to get a fun photo. It’s much harder than it looks to get a sharp photo of someone in mid air in near darkness.
Instant favorite shot, I love this one to pieces from the expression to the motion, everything just works.
For our final photos since the sun had officially set in Piedmont Park and we were really unable to work with the light, we drove over to the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Midtown and took a few more portrait that I also love sooo much around the side of the building. Yes, this is the Fox Theatre in Midtown Atlanta and not your typical photo when you think of the venue. Mostly because this was a Sunday and the lights were off lol, so we made it work and got great results!
And that wraps up Alice’s amazing bridal beauty, bridal glamour, bridal fashion, whatever you want to call it photo shoot in Midtown Atlanta! Here is the promised Behind the Scenes video showing us crazy photographers at work and what really happens during a shoot. Filmed by Joanna and edited by me, Zac.
Have a great week! I’m going to try to catch up on some more blog posts here and there that have been waiting in the queue. As you saw I posted a quick blog about a maternity shoot I did a few days after this bridal portrait session with Alice.
