Jackson Heights & Long Island City Civil Ceremony | Jessica & Emran | New York City Fusion Indian Wedding

Indian Wedding Muslim Wedding Wedding

A couple weeks back I had the privilege of attending and documenting Jessica and Emran’s civil ceremony in Long Island City in Queens, New York. It was a warm Saturday in the Summer and we started things off early before it heated up too much with a quick engagement pre-wedding photo session around their home in Jackson Heights, Queens. I had so much fun as they showed me their favorite neighborhood bagel shop, fresh market, and Colombian cafe in their neighborhood. Your engagement session does not have to be so stiff and formal, I love including this super candid “day in the life” or lifestyle engagement session that is totally about the couple and their personality.

Previously I had only seen Jackson Heights around the train and subway station since I often take the LIRR to Woodside and then the bus to LaGuardia Airport for destination weddings. Who knew that just a few blocks away from the Jackson Heights subway station is such a vibrant local part of New York City!

Our Jackson Heights Engagement session continued around the neighborhood. From the photos, it looks super diverse but that is just how New York City is! We only walked about 4 or 5 blocks in Queens and the neighborhood changed from Colombian to South Asian in just those few blocks, which is why this part of New York is the perfect neighborhood for this amazing couple!

That about wrapped up our morning session in Jackson Heights, it was time to take an Uber over to Long Island City for the Civil Ceremony on the waterfront overlooking the Manhattan skyline!

Our beautiful intimate Long Island City civil ceremony was attended by only the 5 of us, the couple, an officiant friend, and a witness friend… and me, the photographer, of course :). After their New York City civil ceremony we took a few portraits with the beautiful Manhattan skyline in full view. Being high noon in full sun made things a little tricky but it’s pretty hard to take a bad photo of these two beautiful people.

As of this blog posting I had just photographed their destination Fusion South Asian Wedding in Atlanta, Georgia so be on the lookout for those photos soon! They’re already up on Facebook of course :). Jessica and Emran thanks for being two awesome people to work with, wishing you the best and hope to see you around New York City more!

Sydney Australia Destination Indian Wedding | Natasha & Karim’s Mehndi in Parramatta
What is the right superlative to describe this wedding? I always feel a bit guilty writing in the blog about a wedding and gushing over it too much, because I'm genuinely excited about EVERY wedding that I have the opportunity to photograph! Shooting a destination wedding in another country is kind of special though, and having an amazing couple like Natasha and Karim makes it even more so! I had met Natasha a few times here in Atlanta before the wedding and before she headed over to Australia herself, but Karim was already over there at that point I think. So, my jet lagged first meeting on January 1st was his introduction to me =). This was ...

Trash the Saree | Suhana & Rajib Waterfall Photo Session | Atlanta Indian Pre Wedding Photography
After a rather exhausting Labor Day weekend schedule of two weddings - Shireen & Imran's amazing four day Ismaili wedding at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead and Koel & Sanjeev's Hindu wedding at Lake Lanier, I was trying to find a shoot to post that wouldn't be 100+ photos long like some of these epic weddings have been lately. Then I realized, hey I actually never posted the full set of these photos from Suhana and Rajib's "Trash the Saree" waterfall photo session! Not an Indian wedding bridal session since they're already married (and we even shot an anniversary session about a year ago here), but just a fun thing to do =). And ok, it w ...
