This blog post has no real reason for existing, other than to hopefully get a little extra Google juice for keywords and to give my jet lagged mind a break from the haze that it is currently in! Right before the new year, we flew to Houston for a Valima at the Hilton Americas which was amazing, great venue with a great family (this week’s blog post just below actually). Afterwards, Betty flew down to Florida to pick up Miles from my Mom’s place and I flew on to Los Angeles to catch a nonstop flight on December 30th to Sydney, Australia! This was definitely a photography dream come true, to be able to photograph a destination wedding on another continent, and Sydney is not a shabby location at all! For the second to last day of the wedding though we had a reception cruise around Sydney Harbour and took photos afterwards around the world famous Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, truly an honor and a dream to make these kinds of wedding portraits at a spectacular location! After spending a week at the wedding for all of the events (Indian wedding with multiple days), I had a few extra days to stay in Sydney and finally do the touristy thing and see the sights. Sydney is an amazing city, and Parramatta, where a number of other wedding events were, was just as cool as the “big city” and definitely a place I could see us traveling to or living for a time in the future!

After spending 6 days in Parramatta for the Indian wedding and 3 days in Sydney proper, I caught a flight up to Tokyo, Japan! This was of course quite the shock, as down South in Australia it was Summer and up North in Tokyo (and back in Atlanta) it is Winter. So going from gorgeous 78 degree weather to the 30s and 40s was a bit much, but I really love Tokyo =). I wish this was for a wedding as well, and hoping a post like this will help with the Google powers for anyone living in Japan or traveling to Japan and Tokyo for a destination wedding will know that I’m available and willing! I spent a few days by myself exploring Tokyo and then the final 3 days with my old co-worker and close friend Tomomi as we visited her home and saw a bit of the countryside of Saitama and Yamanashi outside of Tokyo.

As things slowly return to normal for me, mostly on the subject of sleep schedules, I’ll be back to updating the blog with some of the other recent Winter weddings we’ve photographed here in Atlanta, and eventually showcasing this destination Indian wedding in Sydney, Australia and photos from my travels in Sydney and Tokyo! Stay tuned!
