Fall Roadtrip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Here is a quick vacation blog post as a break from all of the weddings and engagements I have been posting lately. Well, of course with us, the reason for the travel was a wedding itself. Last Wednesday I had a Pakistani wedding up in Kingsport, Tennessee at the Meadowview Marriott so Betty and Miles came with me for a quick overnight vacation. We drove up to Johnson City/Kingsport on Wednesday in time for the wedding and then took a leisurely route through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the way back. We really wanted to hit the Blue Ridge Parkway but maybe next time, or next year when Miles is a bit older as well. We could only stay for a few hours because we had to be back for tonight’s engagement session and a wedding on Saturday as well =). Fall will be making it’s way down to Atlanta VERY SOON, so enjoy the colors up North just a few hours away while you can! The top of Clingman’s Dome was already past peak color in the colder elevations.

Storm clouds, we didn’t get any rain but it was really cloudy, windy, and cold up there!

Betty posting something to Instagram I’m sure =)
This was the view at Clingman’s Dome – clouds everywhere. We were definitely up in the clouds but not above them today, you could barely see in front of you so we didn’t get the full experience up there and the 360 degree view.
And yeah that 0.5 mile hike up to the dome? Not fun with a toddler!
Lastly, we pulled over here and there on the drive back to take in the Fall colors at the lower elevations which were full of oranges, reds, greens, and yellow! Truly beautiful to see in person!
Lastly, I had the GoPro hooked up in the car to record a bit of the drive, check out a short time lapse of the drive through the Smoky Mountains!
