Winter Storm Jonas Hits New York! Blizzard of 2016 with Sony A7ii

Life

This past weekend New York saw Winter Storm Jonas, or the Blizzard of 2016, roll through as our first Nor’easter of the Winter season, bringing us about 2-3 feet of snow. With the high winds during the blizzard we saw snow drifts in the 3 foot range, almost to the top of our fence! During the blizzard on Saturday afternoon we headed out into the backyard for some fun in the snow, as Miles was super excited to finally see snow since this Christmas was so unseasonably warm in New York! I took the Sony A7ii (which I often use as a second camera for wedding photography) for these snow shots, and to put it’s weather sealing to the test in the New York snow!

Sunday was clean up day for the Blizzard, having to dig our way out of the house and clear some paths before the snow turns into ice! Miles of course took this opportunity as more play time, and we carried him around on the sleigh as well as having a few snowball fights!

It’s Monday and schools are still closed for the day in New York as people dig their ways out and the trains and subways continue working to get back to operational. Another delayed day of wedding photo and video editing as Miles stays at home I guess!

SWPB Personal Blog Circle August Assignment | Your Neighborhood
If you've kept up with this blog circle thing, you'll notice that I pretty much only post photos from our neighborhood anyways (Here for June and Here for July) We're pretty much homebodies who don't leave our 4-5 block radius bubble =). The month of August's assignment was 5-10 photos from your neighborhood, so I tried to not post any photos from places we usually take Miles like the Georgia Aquarium or Centennial Olympic Park, and instead take some photos of our actual neighborhood which is technically the "Historic" Fairlie-Poplar District in Downtown Atlanta. All photos taken with my iPhone 4 and processed with the Camera+ app (my favorit ...

Personal | Braves Game with Miles
Just a quick personal blog post! Since weddings are backed up being blogged as we wrap up the final craziness of the Summer wedding season here in August. We finally went to a Braves game over at Turner Field on our final week in Atlanta! It was definitely more fun than we anticipated and we should have gone to a few more in our time in Atlanta. The upper deck seats were really cheap, and to me the view was spectacular up there! Miles thoroughly enjoyed himself with his foam cheer finger, popcorn, and ice cream. Can't beat a beautiful Summer evening like that! All photos taken with the Sony A7R.

Youth Soccer Kickoff 2016 | Miles’ First Practice of the Season!
While some of the posts here on the blog are all about enhancing that SEO with Google... this post is just showing off Miles and some family life. Please don't hurt my rankings Google for New York Wedding Photographer! This past weekend was the kickoff event here in Hicksville on Long Island for the 2016 Youth Soccer season! Miles had a great time after a little rocky start to his practice, he eventually had a lot of fun out on the soccer field with the other kids! All of the kids did great and we had perfect weather last weekend as Spring finally arrives in New York! Mid-60s in the sun at Noon is perfect kids running ...
