Winter Storm Jonas Hits New York! Blizzard of 2016 with Sony A7ii

Life

This past weekend New York saw Winter Storm Jonas, or the Blizzard of 2016, roll through as our first Nor’easter of the Winter season, bringing us about 2-3 feet of snow. With the high winds during the blizzard we saw snow drifts in the 3 foot range, almost to the top of our fence! During the blizzard on Saturday afternoon we headed out into the backyard for some fun in the snow, as Miles was super excited to finally see snow since this Christmas was so unseasonably warm in New York! I took the Sony A7ii (which I often use as a second camera for wedding photography) for these snow shots, and to put it’s weather sealing to the test in the New York snow!

Sunday was clean up day for the Blizzard, having to dig our way out of the house and clear some paths before the snow turns into ice! Miles of course took this opportunity as more play time, and we carried him around on the sleigh as well as having a few snowball fights!

It’s Monday and schools are still closed for the day in New York as people dig their ways out and the trains and subways continue working to get back to operational. Another delayed day of wedding photo and video editing as Miles stays at home I guess!

Beijing Day 4: Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City
Day 4 – our final day in Beijing – meant seeing what EVERYONE has to see when they visit: Tian An Men Square and the Forbidden City. Did we save the best for last? I’ll leave that up to you as you review these photos and the ones in our previous Beijing travel photography posts: Day 1 & 2 – Temple of Heaven & Great Wall or Day 3 – Summer Palace & Winter Palace. Tian An Men Square, the People’s Square, is just that: full of people!! Now I though we saw a lot of domestic Chinese tourists at the other historic sites we visited, that was nothing compared to Tinanmen Square and the Mao Zedong mausoleum. We saw the typical histori ...

Brief Thoughts on Photoshop World 2010
I attended Photoshop World 2010 this past week since it was here in Orlando. How could I not go to such a crazy show when it’s hosted right in my backyard? While the tips and techniques were amazing and probably enough to write 100 blog posts about, there was one common theme that almost all of the instructors I went to talked about: blogging and personal projects. If nothing else, the price of admission was worth it just to hammer in those two concepts to me. I know blogs are important, but have I been a good blogger? Not a chance! That is why I am starting now and making the resolution that I will publish a blog post at least once a week o ...
