Travel Photography From Our Destination Wedding in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Travel

Last weekend we traveled to Playa del Carmen in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatan peninsula for a destination wedding. While of course it was a lot of work as a destination wedding, we’re basically photographing nonstop the entire time we are there from rehearsal dinners to the wedding itself to a day-after bridal session. Not that I’m complaining of course, we were doing what we love shooting weddings and the weather was simply amazing, 80 degrees compared to the 34 degree morning we left behind in Atlanta on the morning of our flight. Still editing photos and the video clips we took here and there, but here is a small collection of some of the more touristy travel photos we managed to sneak in during our trip.

Mariachi Band that the step-father of the groom hired to serenade him on the night before the wedding during our guy’s night.

Next, these three photos are simple scenes are photos randomly shot along “Avenida Quinta” or 5th Avenue, the main tourist strip through Playa del Carmen.

On Saturday we had a free day… after waking up at 5am to do our sunrise bridal portrait session along the beach =), so after our amazing photo shoot and grabbing coffee with the bride and groom we spent the afternoon seeing the Mayan ruins at Tulum. They’re not as large as the main Mayan ruins at Chichen-Itza, but these are only an hour away from Playa del Carmen and was a $100 USD taxi ride for the day versus the 2 and a half our one way trip to Chichen Itza.

Personal | Recent Happenings With Miles! Day Out With Thomas 2013 & School Carnival
Just doing a quick post from what we've been up to lately - besides being up to our ears in weddings! Seriously, this Summer/Fall season has been I-N-S-A-N-E! Well I guess it's like this every year, as the end is finally in sight! December and January only have 2 weddings each month, it's not a month of 4 weddings with 3 of them being 3 or 4 day Indian Wedding =). A few weeks ago we took Miles to the Jungle Jam carnival at his preschool and then to the Day Out With Thomas event down in Cordele, GA! Even though we play with him all day around downtown here it's fun to get out once in a while too. You may have already seen these photos on Insta ...

Travel Photography: Farmers in Rural Shanghai
This post comes as a welcome break from the more travel oriented posts about our time in Beijing. While Betty did some real work in Shanghai, I spent my time on assignment shooting at the various farms and greenhouses we visited in the suburbs an hour outside of Shanghai. While Betty was occupied talking about gerberas and tissue culture, as well as being the company’s official translator from Mandarin into English, I occupied my time with camera in hand! Language barrier running at an all-time high way out here in rural China, I did my best to communicate nonverbally. Most of the time I made things work using the simple action of smili ...

Model Shoot in Shanghai with Xiao Zou and Xiao Feng
So much for the weekly blog post? Even though we have a million excuses as to why these posts didn’t happen, they still should have. We have been back from our trip to China for a week now, though even before our working vacation we had a couple model shoots that I wanted to blog about. Those will get pushed back a bit to save content for later, also because I was really happy with some of the shots from our trip. From all of the people photos I shot in China, our time in Shanghai really stood out. During some of the down time with our Chinese company we were there to see, JBSBio, I found myself sitting in an office with two good-looking w ...
