Travel Photography From Our Destination Wedding in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Travel

Last weekend we traveled to Playa del Carmen in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatan peninsula for a destination wedding. While of course it was a lot of work as a destination wedding, we’re basically photographing nonstop the entire time we are there from rehearsal dinners to the wedding itself to a day-after bridal session. Not that I’m complaining of course, we were doing what we love shooting weddings and the weather was simply amazing, 80 degrees compared to the 34 degree morning we left behind in Atlanta on the morning of our flight. Still editing photos and the video clips we took here and there, but here is a small collection of some of the more touristy travel photos we managed to sneak in during our trip.

Mariachi Band that the step-father of the groom hired to serenade him on the night before the wedding during our guy’s night.

Next, these three photos are simple scenes are photos randomly shot along “Avenida Quinta” or 5th Avenue, the main tourist strip through Playa del Carmen.

On Saturday we had a free day… after waking up at 5am to do our sunrise bridal portrait session along the beach =), so after our amazing photo shoot and grabbing coffee with the bride and groom we spent the afternoon seeing the Mayan ruins at Tulum. They’re not as large as the main Mayan ruins at Chichen-Itza, but these are only an hour away from Playa del Carmen and was a $100 USD taxi ride for the day versus the 2 and a half our one way trip to Chichen Itza.

The final day of these China Vacation blog posts! I can finally get back to weddings so that you don't have to scroll so far in the blog to see actual New York and Atlanta Indian weddings :). Day 13 was our final day before heading home to New York from Shanghai, and we wanted to take Miles to the Bund since I had pretty much gone by myself each time and it was always at night when Miles should be sleeping. Crowds were still there during the day, and the couples taking wedding photos were still there of course!
