Day 6 of our China Summer Vacation series! We started with exploring the natural beauty of the Wuyi Mountain area which is a famous area in China for the mountain range. Basically a National Park like we have in the US, super popular with tourists for it’s beauty and clean air… and of course it’s tea! So yeah, tea is huge in China, very hard for me to find some morning coffee anywhere in China but especially here in Wuyi where tea is king :). For our Sixth day in China we began exploring the hiking trails of Wuyi, winding through the mountains and next to tea growing freely next to you. Today on Day 6 we did some light introductory trails, only a couple of kilometers with minimal hiking… more to come!
In the morning we saw Betty’s cousin Pei-pei briefly before she was off to study some more!
Start of the trails at the base of Wuyi Mountain.
Tea bushes growing on the sides of the walking path.
Stone carvings on the side of the mountain with various poems and history.
More and more tea growing “in the wild” in these small managed plots.
Small temple deep in the trails.
Caught up with a tourist group as I got closer to civilization at the end of the trails, apparently I took the long way around! An unmistakable sight in China, wearing heels everywhere, even on a hiking trail in the mountains!
Another unmistakable sight in China, pre-wedding photo shoots in any scenic location! We saw this every day we passed this access portion of the river, and everywhere in Shanghai as you will see in an upcoming blog post from that part of the trip!
Oh scenic location? Photo shoot!
And that was our first day in Wuyi! Lots of hiking, lots of natural beauty, lots of tea! More to come!
