Summer Vacation | China Trip 2015 Day 4 | Min Tai + Jimei

China Travel Uncategorized

This is another quick Vacation post here on the ol’ blog, a break from all the Indian weddings and engagements and traveling back and forth from New York to Atlanta! Day 4 of our vacation we headed to the outskirts of Xiamen to find Min Tai, an old ancient town that was turned into a tourist destination and then fell into misuse. Long gone are the buses of tourists to see some of “old China” but the locals are still hanging out on the streets of Min Tai, and the temple itself is still functioning of course. Interesting place to visit, not sure it would make my “Top 10 Sights of Xiamen” but interesting nonetheless! After spending the morning at Min Tai we stopped by Jimei, which is sort of a Northern suburb of Xiamen just across the bridge. Here we visited my mother-in-law’s old elementary school, which is now the “Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University.” As usual, all photos shot with the Sony A7ii that I took with me on this trip!

Walking the empty campus of Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University, since it was Summer break we only saw a few international students still around.

Summer Vacation | China Trip 2015 Day 12 | Jingan Temple & The Bund Shanghai
Day 12 was our second day in Shanghai for our China Vacation 2015, and we explored some of the more touristy things that the city has to offer, but of course I did go back to The Bund in the evening to check out more of the famous skyline views! Another day putting the Sony A7ii to the test as a travel camera! Jingan Temple in the middle of Shanghai, with high rise buildings all around the courtyard. Jingan and the surrounding high rises of Shanghai. Of course writing this I totally forget the name, but this was another temple in Shanghai that I was able to get taking a tourist sightseeing bus :) The famous singles ...

Beijing Day 1 & 2: Temple of Heaven and Great Wall
To give our readers a break from people photography, I wanted to include a few shots from our trip to China in May, 2010. We flew from Orlando into Beijing to start our trip, and after that 13 hour nonstop flight from Newark we definitely needed to get out and stretch our legs! After landing and checking into the beautiful Beijing Marriott City Wall, we jumped in the ever-prevalent taxi cab and headed to the Temple of Heaven. The Temple of Heaven itself is rather small compared to the giant park area surrounding it, also encompassing the Hall of Good Harvest in the same complex. After taking some of those typical postcard shots of the comp ...

Random Vlog #2 & Sony RX100V Photos at Roosevelt Island Cherry Blossoms
No wedding this week! So in an effort to keep that online content flowing, I put together a quick non-wedding vlog of our Sunday trip to Roosevelt Island and Central Park. Okay so not super exciting wedding-related content for THIS blog, and okay not the best vlog for YouTube either but it was fun playing around with the newly acquired RX100V and testing some settings - mainly Slow Motion and recording in the Slog2 profile which makes editing the videos a little different from my previous Sony A7ii video and vlogging workflow. The previous RX100V Wedding Photography vlog from two weeks ago in Richmond, Virginia I used the native 4K setting ...
