Summer Vacation | China 2015 Day 3 | Xiamen Nanputuo

China Travel

This is Day 3 of our China trip! After traveling from New York to Shanghai to Xiamen, we were still a little jet lagged but slowly accommodating to the time zones in China but still waking up really early. We headed back to the walking street that we visited the day before, but today without the rain! After exploring the streets and market we made our way to the Nanputuo temple for some more sightseeing.

2015 Chinese New Year Parade Chinatown NYC with the Sony A7R
Yesterday was the annual Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown in New York City, so we decided to grab Miles and head over to check it out! Even though Chinese New Year itself fell earlier in the week, the parades are on the weekend of course and Sunday was the 2015 parade date. Luckily the weather up here in New York totally cooperated after a little snow and freezing rain on Saturday when the Flushing CNY parade was happening, the Sunday festivities in NYC's Chinatown saw (relatively) warm temperatures in the 40s - a perfect weekend day in the city! I had my trusty Sony A7R with me, and our little spot we staked out towards the end of the ro ...

Summer Vacation | China Trip 2015 Day 4 | Min Tai + Jimei
This is another quick Vacation post here on the ol' blog, a break from all the Indian weddings and engagements and traveling back and forth from New York to Atlanta! Day 4 of our vacation we headed to the outskirts of Xiamen to find Min Tai, an old ancient town that was turned into a tourist destination and then fell into misuse. Long gone are the buses of tourists to see some of "old China" but the locals are still hanging out on the streets of Min Tai, and the temple itself is still functioning of course. Interesting place to visit, not sure it would make my "Top 10 Sights of Xiamen" but interesting nonetheless! After spending the morning a ...

Central Park New York City with the Sony A7R
I know I just posted some photos from Fall in New York City but again here are some more from Thanksgiving! My Mom came up from Florida to visit with the family so we had to take her around the city of course to see some of the sights. That's one thing I really love about the Sony A7R, such a small camera to take around the city and it produces such gorgeous photos. For this trip we went around Central Park for a bit before heading down to Chinatown and Little Italy for some dessert and then up to Times Square for some late night city lights. Enjoy a few photos form New York City in the Fall! I can't wait for things to start warming up around ...
