Sophear & Jake’s Bridal/Groomal Day-After/Day-Before Session | Laotian Cambodian Wedding Photographer
First of all, apologies for the weird title to this blog post as I don’t really know what to call this photo session we did with Sophear and Jake, how about “capturing two beautiful people in love” because that about sums it up! Sophear and Jake had their first wedding ceremony this past weekend but unfortunately we were already booked to photograph Rachel and Shayne’s wedding at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame (which was AMAZING!!!). I will be there for Sophear and Jake’s SECOND ceremony in two weeks though as they are having two ceremonies put on by both families – one for the Laotian side and one for the Cambodian side. Before both ceremonies we got together and did a fun pre-wedding shoot where Sophear looked ravishing in her dress and Jake… barely fit into his suit =). Of course I’m just giving Jake a hard time because yeah he makes other guys tremble in intimidation, while going all mushy for his beautiful bride to be. These two are such a cute couple that we couldn’t help but to joke around and have a blast making some amazing images.
What you don’t see here is that Jake was really sick, and I mean really sick had-to-sit-down-in-between-shots-sick. He was such a trooper (ok sorry, bad pun because he is a police officer lol) and kept smiling for the camera and totally pushing himself to make Sophear happy because that’s just the type of guy he is. While Jake was running aside I captured these photos of Sophear and this amazing tree which I fell in love with. She looks like an angel or a fairy in a fantasy movie…
Jake made it back over once he was feeling a bit better and joined his beautiful bride.
Ok we could probably spend the whole evening at this cool tree but we did actually explore other locations!!
I love this next photo even though putting the watermark in the corner really blocks the couple. The actual photo they received without the logo looks great! =)
We finally found some tall grass!! In all of the wedding inspiration blogs you always see these photos of brides in the middle of a field or tall grass… well here in Atlanta we don’t have that many open fields or at least not many right next to wedding venues. Luckily here there was a small patch to sort of mimic the effect and put our own Southern spin on this type of photo.
Oh, and can you say amazing sunset? We were getting a bit disappointed because this big band of clouds started moving over us right as night fell but then the very edge of the cloud line lit up magnificently just as the sun was dipping behind the horizon. The result was an amazing ribbon of purple and orange that lasted for about 10 minutes, long enough for me to tell Sophear and Jake “Quick, KISS!!!!” as I captured these moments.
As the sun finally set we used a bit more of the flash to capture Sophear and Jake at the end of the night. Sophear had a great idea to photograph herself peeking over Jake’s broad shoulders – I love it when a collaboration between the bride, groom, and photographer comes together like this! The photo turned out so well that we continued the series a bit with some of Sophear alone along the lake in near total darkness.
While we were there Betty captured a bit of us as we worked together, so enjoy this video which contains a slideshow of images from the wedding and some behind the scenes footage of myself (Zac) working with Sophear and Jake. Enjoy this video and have a great week as the temperature creeps into the amazing Fall time here in Atlanta!
