New York City Christmas

Even with this unseasonably warm Winter, it still looks like Christmas all around New York City! With the holiday displays in the windows and the lights installations around Manhattan, you can’t help but feel the holiday magic (even if it’s 60 degrees outside)! Being a Floridian at heart I think I’ll take this warm weather, but I did wish we had a White Christmas this year for Miles to see =). All photos taken here with the Sony A7ii and Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 OSS lens of course!

Bryant Park’s fountain has not frozen yet, and the Winter Village with ice skating is full of people for the holidays!

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were filming Saturday Night Live promos at Rockefeller Center, and of course it was swarming with people! You can sort of catch Tina Fey in the center of this photo… somewhere…

Macy’s flagship store at Herald Square, always one of my favorite parts of the holidays! We didn’t do Santaland this year, I think once is enough :)

Thanks for seeing New York City at Christmas time through my quick one day excursion with my handy Sony A7ii!

Wat Florida Dhammaram Temple – A place for colors
After we fell in love with photography, we fell in love with colors. So looking for colors around us becomes part of our day to day task. Then when we heard about this Thai temple- Wat Florida Dhammaram, we had no hesitation to go there to search for colors. We ran into the monk when we just parked our car. We said Hi and carefully asked for permission to take photos inside the temple. Very generously, he not only allowed us to take photos, but also modeled for us. (Well, we did not ask him to sign a release!!!) We were amazed by the color of the temple, and of course, Zac shot many HDR. We would recommend any photographers going there for ph ...

Travel Photography: Farmers in Rural Shanghai
This post comes as a welcome break from the more travel oriented posts about our time in Beijing. While Betty did some real work in Shanghai, I spent my time on assignment shooting at the various farms and greenhouses we visited in the suburbs an hour outside of Shanghai. While Betty was occupied talking about gerberas and tissue culture, as well as being the company’s official translator from Mandarin into English, I occupied my time with camera in hand! Language barrier running at an all-time high way out here in rural China, I did my best to communicate nonverbally. Most of the time I made things work using the simple action of smili ...

First Sony A7ii Review + New York City Time-Lapse
I really tried to like the Sony A7r for wedding photography, I did! You can read the initial Sony A7r for Weddings review blog post here and then the follow up here, where I talk about using the Sony A7r at a few Indian weddings and Vietnamese weddings as a second camera body. While it's a great landscape camera, not so much in a dimly let reception venue as a wedding camera. Well, of course Sony does offer the A7 which DOES fit that niche, but I was blinded by the high megapixel count of the -R rather than looking for what I actually need =). When Sony announced the new updated A7 Version 2 (A7ii) I knew that I needed to finally make the swi ...
