2015 Chinese New Year Parade Chinatown NYC with the Sony A7R

Life Travel

Yesterday was the annual Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown in New York City, so we decided to grab Miles and head over to check it out! Even though Chinese New Year itself fell earlier in the week, the parades are on the weekend of course and Sunday was the 2015 parade date. Luckily the weather up here in New York totally cooperated after a little snow and freezing rain on Saturday when the Flushing CNY parade was happening, the Sunday festivities in NYC’s Chinatown saw (relatively) warm temperatures in the 40s – a perfect weekend day in the city! I had my trusty Sony A7R with me, and our little spot we staked out towards the end of the route was perfect, also because it was near the playground in Sara D. Roosevelt Park so Miles could escape to play a bit while we waited for the start!

I’ve been a little behind on posting new wedding photography photos to the blog, but you can head over to the facebook fan page to see last weekend’s Pakistani Indian wedding in Atlanta, and this coming weekend I am heading down to Savannah & Hilton Head Island for an awesome destination Hindu Indian wedding! Always super busy with South Asian weddings but here are some fun travel photos from life in New York City in the meantime =).

Jeff Newsom Workshop Review | Ultra Atlanta ATLMGDDN 2014
After a few months of letting it sink in I figured it was time to write a quick blog post about my experience at Jeff Newsom's Atlanta workshop ATLMGDDN which took place at the Goat Farm in April, and what I got out of it. Another mostly rambling blog post with stream of consciousness thoughts, but I think I eventually get to the point... TL;DR Workshop Review: Lots of technical information was given, realize I already know a lot of it, but come to the conclusion that Jeff taught me an important life lesson to continue being an artist true to yourself. Worth it, but took me a while to realize what I learned. To preface this post, their is ...

Summer Vacation | China Trip Day 8 | Heping & Xigua Tea
Here's another break from wedding blogging to put *something* up here to help the Google-fu SEO along. Also it's a good time for me to take a break while I wait for Lightroom to ingest this Nikkah that I'm editing and generate previews so I can actually get to work! Back to China in the Summer as Winter approaches us here in New York, Day 8 was particularly hot as we set out to explore more of the area around Wuyi Mountain and another "ancient town" around China, Heping. After hanging out in the police station, yes the police station, we swung by the Xigua Tea company's factory for some tea demonstration and tasting at the new facility. Again ...
